Text Messaging with Shared and Dedicated Long Numbers Using CDYNE SMS Notify! API

Posted by: CDYNE  /  Tags: , , , , , , ,

CDYNE SMS Notify! API

CDYNE SMS Notify! API is a versatile Web Service that allows businesses to send 2-way text messages worldwide through an SMS gateway using shared and/or dedicated long numbers. A long number (i.e. 757-544-9510) is a 10-digit phone number, and is an alternative method to short codes for sending outbound and receiving inbound SMS text messages. Customers using CDYNE SMS Notify! API can connect to a bank of shared long numbers, order dedicated long numbers (DIDs), or use a combination of both to support their business needs. Here is a quick overview of each option:

Shared Long Numbers

By using the SimpleSMS or AdvancedSMS request, users can pass their license key, phone number, and text message to CDYNE SMS Notify! API which will send the message(s) through a bank of randomly generated long numbers.  Text messages sent out this way will come from different phone numbers.

Dedicated Long Numbers

A significant feature of SMS Notify! API is the option for customers to purchase exclusively assigned long numbers, or DIDs. They allow inbound messaging for companies requiring Mobile Originated (MO) messages from customers or subscribers.

Customers may request a randomly generated DID, or specify the area code of the phone number.  Customers may purchase a single DID to be assigned to the license key or multiple DIDs to be assigned to a single license key.  Once the DID is issued, CDYNE assigns it to the customer’s license key which may be used to send text messages from the dedicated number(s).

Combining Shared and Dedicated Long Numbers

In some cases, businesses may need to use a combination of both methods to send and receive text messages. To do this, users can use two separate SMS Notify! API license keys. It’s simple to generate an additional SMS Notify! API license key. And the best part is that it is free. Let’s use an example to illustrate.

Customer ABC creates license key xxx11yyy-1234-1a2b-3ca4-xxxe77e91yyy and assigns the key alias “Shared.” The customer can add a secondary key and assign with the alias, “DID 4723.” Customer ABC contacts CDYNE to order a DID. CDYNE staff place the order and assign the DID to license key “DID 4723.” With those steps complete, Customer ABC can program the license key called “Shared” to send out text messages on the bank of shared long numbers, as well as program the license key “DID 4723” to send and/or receive text messages from the dedicated phone number.

With the GetZipCodesWithinDistance operation, CDYNE Postal Address Verification users can add a zip code radius search, or proximity search to their websites.

The second operation is GetZipCodesForFips. Federal information processing standards codes (FIPS codes) are a standardized set of numeric or alphabetic codes issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to ensure uniform identification of geographic entities through all federal government agencies.

CDYNE COMPLETES CASS CERTIFICATION FOR CYCLE N ADDRESS VERIFICATION

Posted by: CDYNE  /  Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

usps-cass-certified

CDYNE’s Postal Address Verification API (PAV API) certification for CASS Cycle N comes over four months ahead of the United States Postal Service (USPS) expiration date of July 31, 2011 for CASS cycle M. Customers using the PAV API benefit from actively updating their address data against the USPS database to help avoid costly errors. Companies that are considering the benefits of validating the deliverability of a mail piece should consider the following:

Nearly one quarter of mail that goes through the USPS contains some kind of error. The most recent (2008) figures show that UAA (undeliverable-as-addressed) mail accounted for 2.72% or 5.4 billion mail pieces of the total volume of mail. Mail with inaccurate addresses is considered UAA mail and can result in the following:
·         Forwarded or redirected mail, delaying delivery and response
·         Returned mail, resulting in lost opportunity and revenue
·         Discarded mail, ultimately causing a marketer to lose that customer completely

According to USPS estimates, nearly 1.8 billion mail pieces are sent to business addresses in large buildings without the correct suite number. At this point, delivery depends entirely on the carrier’s personal knowledge. If the carrier does not know where the mail should be delivered, it can end up as UAA. This problem can be solved with the USPS Suite Link product, which is included with CDYNE PAV API.  Suite Link facts:
·         Suite Link appends correct suite numbers to known business addresses
·         Addresses must be processed with CASS Certified software and identified as high-rise defaults to be candidates for Suite Link
·         Suite Link is required with CASS Cycle N
·         CASS vendors must deliver CASS Cycle N to customers no later than May 1, 2011

Why Run Addresses through CDYNE Postal Address Verification API?

·         Reduce or eliminate UAA (undeliverable-as-addressed)
·         Ensure the fastest possible delivery for your product or service
·         Any mail claiming an automation-rate must have an address processed through CASS-Certified software to be eligible for discounts
·         Test for free with a fully functional trial key
o   Contact CDYNE at 1-800-984-3710, inquire or initiate a chat for details

What is CASS Certification?

·         CASS stands for Coding Accuracy Support System
·         It provides a benchmark by which software and hardware products can be tested to determine if they standardize and correct addresses in a consistent manner
·         A product has to obtain a minimum score of 98.5% correction accuracy to be CASS Certified
·         The CASS cycle, which is designated by a letter, runs from Aug. 1 to July 31
·         CDYNE’s Postal Address Verification API is CASS Certified for the most recent cycle N

CDYNE and M2M DataSmart announce M2M Ecosystem Marketing Agreement

Getting M2M Devices to Market Easier and Faster is the Goal
Chesapeake, VA, San Diego, Calif., September 20, 2010 – CDYNE and M2M DataSmart™ announced the availability of its high-reliability SMS Gateway services coupled with the industry leading M2M airtime pricing for M2M applications for developers and OEMs supplying M2M solutions.

M2M DataSmart is a revolutionary wireless data service provider for the emerging machine-to-machine (M2M) marketplace.  As a M2M Airtime Aggregator in partnership with Sprint Wholesale, M2M DataSmart offers the M2M OEM/Developer a cost effective, wireless pipeline for their M2M devices continues to build its M2M Ecosystem by teaming with CYDNE, a leading provider of SMS Gateway services through their SMS Notify! 2.0 Web Service.

Today many M2M applications/solutions are using SMS messaging and as a result many need the ability to be able to send and receive SMS messages directly to & from their host application server.  To deal with this requirement, an SMS gateway can be set up to handle the connections to the Cellular carrier which sounds easier than it is.

M2M Application developers had two choices, they could implement their own SMS gateway (which required extensive and costly integration efforts) or look to a third party that provided SMS gateway services as well as airtime service (these turned out to be expensive not only on the frontend set-up fees but also on the recurring monthly charges).  This new partnership now allows the M2M Developer to use the most competitive M2M airtime pricing of M2M DataSmart combined with the ease of integration and low usage cost of CDYNE’s SMS Gateway – cheaper and easier M2M deployments, that is what this is all about.

“Our customers are OEMs/Developers bringing machine to machine (M2M) applications to market for commercial deployment on the Sprint network,” said David McCartney, COO for M2M DataSmart.  “Working with our partner CDYNE, we can provide our customers with a single point of contact for deployment of M2M devices on the Sprint CDMA network. Partnerships like these make it easier, faster and more cost-efficient for commercial deployment of M2M.”

“When customers use our SMS Gateway, the SMS text messaging application only needs to know how to connect to the SMS gateway. No change to the source code of the SMS text messaging application is required. The use of our SMS gateway can greatly shorten the SMS text messaging applications development time and reduce the cost of deployment for the M2M developer” said Christopher Chenoweth, CIO of CDYNE Corporation. “Our goal is to make deploying SMS messaging for M2M applications easier and cheaper. To help with that we go beyond the technology to make it happen – we also are looking at the business side – at CDYNE there are no contracts, no startup fees, or no cancellation charges.”

Chesapeake, VA (August 17, 2010) – CDYNE Corporation, a leading provider of Data Quality and Communication XML Web Services announced today the release of Postal Address Verification 3.0 Web Service to standardize, correct, and validate U.S. addresses without the need for businesses to buy, store, program and maintain the enormous United States Postal Service database.

Postal Address Verification 3.0 is a CASS Certified Web Service that checks U.S. addresses against a continuously updated USPS® database so businesses can perform point of entry validation.  With Postal Address Verification 3.0, businesses can increase the number of addresses delivered to, ensure fastest possible delivery of materials or inventory, qualify for USPS discounts, and standardize address data for peak data quality management.

Key Postal Address Verification 3.0 Web Service features include a comprehensive DPV (Delivery Point Validation) return code system that confirms the existence of a specific address and whether or not it can be delivered to. Businesses can avoid residential delivery surcharges by verifying delivery type status prior to shipping with Residential Delivery Indicator (RDI). Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB) and POSTNET barcodes to qualify for automated discounts are also included with Postal Address Verification 3.0.

“CDYNE’s engineering staff put a great deal of effort into the design and implementation of its own postal address verification engine to not only meet USPS standards and requirements but to also address client requests for new features,” said Valentin Ivanov, Chief Software Architect of CDYNE Corporation. “We have achieved CASS certification and are very excited to offer clients this new service.”

In addition to validating deliverable addresses, businesses can tailor additional data returns at no additional cost. Postal Address Verification 3.0 offers optional data returns including proper case formatting, Census data, geo-location data, and Legislative data.

Web Services are a key point of integration for business applications that exist on different platforms, languages, and systems. Press Release: CDYNE Corporation Offers Upgraded Web Service Solution for Simple, Cost-Effective Text Messaging

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CDYNE Corporation Offers Upgraded Web Service Solution for Simple, Cost-Effective Text Messaging

Chesapeake, VA (May 25, 2010) – CDYNE Corporation, a leading provider of Data Quality and Communication XML Web Services announced today the release of CDYNE SMS Notify! 2.0 Web Service for alert and notification text messaging.

SMS Notify! 2.0 is a 2-way text messaging Web Service that sends and receives text messages through secure SMS gateways. Commonly used messaging features include emergency alerts, automated appointment or payment reminders, product delivery status notifications, and subscriber event messaging. Web Services are a key point of integration for business applications that exist on different platforms, languages, and systems. IT departments can interface with SMS Notify! 2.0 Web Service using SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) or REST (Representational State Transfer) protocols to build these communication features into existing business applications.

A significant upgrade built-in to SMS Notify! 2.0 is the option to obtain exclusively assigned long numbers (i.e. 757-555-1212). This feature is a simple, cost-effective alternative to short codes for companies requiring Mobile Originated (MO) messages from customers or subscribers. Advantages of long numbers include easy and quick set up, no short code fees or premium charges to customers, and the ability to combine voice or IVR (Interactive Voice Response) calls.

“Our new SMS service allows businesses to combine the best of Phone Notify! and SMS Notify! Web Services with their own numbers. A business can request SMS numbers that hook directly into the IVR/Callback system,” said Christopher Chenoweth, CIO of CDYNE Corporation. “So, if an end user gets a text message and calls the number back, it could potentially read the text message or perform other custom IVRs. If a business would like random numbers, CDYNE has a pool of long numbers that we randomly send from. That way, an end user could get multiple messages and respond differently to each one.”

SMS Notify! 2.0 is backed up with a 100% Service Level Agreement (SLA), protecting clients from unscheduled outages. CDYNE’s data centers are engineered with multiple levels of security, uninterruptible power supplies, redundant HVAC systems, fire suppression, and 24 X 7 monitoring and management. CDYNE centers are also strategically located in different areas across the United States, providing redundancy and location fail-over enabling.

How to tell if you’re dead

Posted by: CDYNE  /  Tags: , , , , , , ,

The government knows.  It always knows.  The Social Security Administration has a whole file dedicated to it.  Maybe a little creepy to think about, but be glad this file exists.  For one, if you die and someone pretends to be you, it’s a lot easier to pin down and prosecute for your children’s posterity, so they don’t lose their inheritance.

It also conveniently works for you while you’re alive, if you run a business. There’s a type of criminal out there that focuses purely on this kind of fraud, called “deceased person identity theft.”  And you could easily be a victim if you don’t have the records to screen for it.

One of our favorite Web Services, the Death Index API taps right into that SSA file and runs names and Social Security Numbers of your customers and patients against it in real time.  So you can say to the fake customer standing in front of you at the counter, “Wow, you’re looking pretty good for a dead guy!”
