Short Code vs. Long Code for Business Texting
Nowadays, text messaging and business go hand-in-hand. Consumers expect the businesses they interact with to have the ability to contact them via text and some will even consciously choose another company if that feature is not included. If your business is a little late to the game, no worries, adding text messaging to your business platform is easy! If you are considering joining the business texting world you might be asking yourself: what are my options? or what would be best for my business?
Once you decide on the texting platform you are going to work with, your next big decision is which type of messaging to do you plan on using: sending texts via short code or via long code. Both options have their ups and downs but the main factors that come into play when choosing between the two are the number of messages you expect to send and your use case. For example, if your industry is marketing and you plan to send multiple campaigns to as many people as possible a short code would probably be best. Short codes allow for a large number of both incoming and outgoing messages and the keywords feature will make it easy for your customers to respond and allow you to view which campaign is working best. If your company is relatively new or small and you are interested in sending texts for a customer loyalty program that you just implemented a long code would probably be better.
